The launch version of Yamaha's 1999 big cruiser, sold as the Road Star in North America and Wild Star in Europe. It pairs a long-stroke, air-cooled 1602 cc pushrod V-twin with belt final drive, retro low-rider styling, a hidden rear shock and big low-rpm torque. Silverado and Midnight trim packages were added to the range later.
